Strike votes took place over two days on June 28 and July 11. An overwhelming majority of members voted in favour of strike action.
Your UNW/PSAC Bargaining team was impressed by the number of members who turned out to vote and we appreciate your support. We are hopeful that the strong mandate you have provided us will send a clear message to the Employer to table a deal that values and respects the work you do.
We are also hopeful that the July 6 Federal Government announcement (link) regarding more funding for NWT healthcare will result in a new offer that reflects the contributions of HRHSSA workers and will, according to the announcement, truly work to “ensure a resilient and supported health workforce that provides residents with high-quality, effective, and safe health care services.”
As always, our priority is to reach a negotiated deal at the bargaining table and avoid job action and disruption of services. However, should the Employer fail to table an acceptable offer, the earliest we can take strike action is August 19th.
Keep an eye on your email for important notices and updates about next steps. If you are not receiving emails, please send a test message to the UNW Membership Secretary so we can confirm or add you to our lists. You can also refer to the Strike FAQs available on the PSAC North website (link) or reach out to a member of your Bargaining Team if you have further questions.
We see you, we appreciate you, and with the support you continue to show, we will continue to fight hard to get you the deal you deserve.
