GNWT Bargaining Update - June 28, 2024

Government of the Northwest Territories
Jun 28, 2024

Since your UNW bargaining team received the mediator’s non-binding recommendations, we have worked diligently on reviewing and considering the proposal.

While the recommendations propose an economic package consisting of 6%, 2.25%, and 2.25% (which is disappointing, as this falls short of other bargaining units in the north) your bargaining team believes there are some important gains in addressing the key issues of Reconciliation and retention of healthcare workers.

We would like to thank the mediator, Jacquie de Aguayo, for her assistance and the many hours she has dedicated to this process.

In the coming weeks, your bargaining team will be scheduling membership meetings to discuss and vote on the entire package, including the mediator’s recommendations and the bargaining items already agreed to during previous negotiations. The bargaining team will be recommending ratification.

Please keep an eye on your email and the UNW website for meeting notices.

We encourage you to speak to a member of your bargaining team if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continuing support.

In solidarity,
