City of Yellowknife Bargaining Update #6

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the City for the main Bargaining Unit.

The bargaining team unanimously recommends ratification of the agreement.

Some Highlights of the Agreement:

- The agreement includes conversion to the City’s new classification system and grid, effective Jan 1, 2024. Members will be migrated after a 2.25% wage increase is applied to their December 31, 2023 wages. 2.25% will be applied to the casual rates of pay for 2024.

  • Jan 1, 2025- 3%
  • Jan 1, 2026- 3%
  • Jan 1, 2027- 3%

- Mandatory rest periods of 8 hours
- More flexible work arrangements
- New leave for indigenous Cultural leave, one paid day
- Additional 5 weeks of parental leave allowance
- Expanded casual leave definition and hours
