UNW 2025 Equity Conference Call Out

The UNW’s first Equity Conference, under the theme "Northern Voices, Shared Futures: Advancing Equity Through Action and Systems Change" reflects our collective commitment to building inclusive communities, amplifying diverse perspectives, and moving from dialogue to meaningful action.

The Equity Conference will bring together community leaders, workers, activists, and organizations from across the North. Through workshops, discussions, and knowledge-sharing, we aim to highlight strategies and solutions that can advance equity across systems and create sustainable change.

Desired Objectives:

  1. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what equity means in the NWT northern contexts, including Indigenous worldviews and systemic barriers.
  2. Participants will gain practical tools, strategies, and frameworks to support equity - emphasizing collaboration and inclusivity within their workplace and communities.
  3. Attendees will build connections among union activists to support ongoing collaboration and shared learning.
  4. Participants will leave with a commitment and pathway toward systemic changes that go beyond individual efforts, aiming to transform institutions and policies.
  5. The conference will inspire and energize attendees to take concrete steps, advocate for equity, and lead change with a focus on systems to achieve lasting equity   in their workplace and communities. 

We invite you to join us for 2 days of workshops, discussion, and collaboration on November 27-28 in Yellowknife.

ELIGIBILITY

This conference is open to all self-identified UNW Equity Members 

  • Applicants must be nominated at a Local General Membership Meeting
  • Members  are required to have two (2) Local Executive Officers sign off on the application
  • Each Local is allowed to send two (2) members, but are encouraged to select alternates
